Marketing has changed

Ain’t it the truth? The world we live in now has forced that change, and the good news is it’s one for the better. People absolutely run their lives on their mobile devices now, and that phenomenon presents you with an incredible opportunity to capitalize on.

The fact that marketing has changed is a blessing. It’s becoming more and more measurable each day, and at a cost that is typically much less than the spend on traditional marketing vehicles and initiatives. The traditional items that are still effective shouldn’t be eliminated, but they should be used now to assist with building local, actively engaged audiences on social media and mobile.

This is where the rubber meets the road: You can make more with less. Grow sales and reduce marketing expenses. Imagine seeing sales grow, while seeing your marketing budget decrease. That’s the goal. That’s why we do what we do, and so far that philosophy has worked well for us.

Since marketing has changed so much recently, and continues to change so rapidly as technology evolves, you basically have three choices.

  1. You can do nothing. It’s easy enough, not much pain there except the pain from your competitors taking your customers once they establish local audiences on social and mobile.
  2. You can try to do it yourself, or hire someone to do it. The only problem with that is it’s likely that you won’t be able to find a competent person with real-world experience in executing and driving results with the social and mobile channels, at an hourly employee rate. If you can, it may require significant management and learning on your part to know the new media space well enough to make sure you get results.
  3. You can out-source. There are plenty of companies out there that can tell you what you need to do. There are few out there that can do it for you, and even fewer that can do it for you well.
